Milled Colours - Solid Colour Mulberry Paper / Saa Paper

A lightweight pressed paper with great strength and a silky appearance. Sometimes referred to incorrectly as "tissue paper" but in fact a much stonger and more durable creation. Long mulberry fibres are clearly visible within this semi-translucent best-seller.

Our milled papers are made on a classic Fourdrinier type paper milling machine combined with a "Yankee" cylinder for drying. We use exactly the same raw materials (mulberry or saa) for our milled papers as for our handmade papers, but their appearance is more uniform and their consistency much denser, due to the drying and pressing process.

Milled mulberry paper from Thailand is also known in Japan as unryu and this name is occasionally used in the USA and Europe too.

After production of a large roll the milled paper is cut to exact sizes. Please note that in addition to our standard wrapping paper size of 50x70cm (19.5x27.5"), we can also supply you in any cut size up to 130cm (51") wide and any length. We can also supply milled mulberry paper in rolls of any length up to 2,000 metres. For made-to-order cut sheets and rolls the minimum order is 2,000 metres per colour.
